Here is a recipe for Nepalese Momos:
Ingredients for the dough:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup warm water
1/4 cup vegetable oil
Ingredients for the filling:
1 lb ground meat (chicken, beef, or pork) or mixed vegetables
1 large onion, diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 inch of ginger, grated
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh coriander, chopped
Instructions:
In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt.
Add the warm water and oil and knead the mixture into a soft and elastic dough.
Cover the dough and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
In a pan, sauté the onion until soft, about 5 minutes.
Add the garlic, ginger, and spices and cook for another minute.
Add the ground meat or vegetables and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in the chopped cilantro and season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside to cool.
Roll the dough into thin circles, about 3-4 inches in diameter.
Place a spoonful of the filling in the centre of each circle.
Fold the dough over to form a half-moon shape and pinch the edges to seal.
Place the momos in a steamer basket and steam until they are cooked through, about 10-15 minutes.
Serve the momos hot with a dipping sauce of your choice.
